Please don’t judge me, it was an “in the moment” thing. The question is, should I even bother telling her the truth? She’ll never know the difference.
Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Cirque du Soleil, and I attended this event as press, in order to provide you with this review. However, everything you’re about to read below is 100% true, and of my own opinions. Cirque du Soleil couldn’t pay me enough to make this stuff up. (Okay, I’m lying, they probably could, but still. Lol)
Pictured below, is my daughter’s favorite act from Cirque du Soleil’s OVO show we saw on Wednesday, June 5th at the Barclay’s Center: the foot juggling ants. She loved them so much she began to do their “dance” while waiting for the bathroom. (I’ll include the snapchat clip a little bit later in this post.) However, I know you’re probably wondering why I lied to my 5 year old and what about.
Well, first of all, the lie wasn’t that serious.
However, it was about one of the acts in the show. While we were amazed and marveling at the act below, I may (or may not) have slipped up and told my daughter (proudly) that I could “do that too”. I mean, it was a senseless thing to do, but I was caught up in the moment. Hell, if I’m being straight honest with you right now, I didn’t actually lie. I mean I can do the bridge. Okay, I could do the bridge, about 10 years ago.
But please don’t let my lie lead you astray.
This show was amazing, hell my daughter even said so, in those exact words. She looked at me, leaned over, tugged on my shirt and said “mommy this is amazing”. And if my 5 year old can enjoy a show about bugs, that’s not even in English, then so can you! (Here’s that cute clip of her dancing like the ants, to distract you from my lies. Lol)
Here’s what she was imitating from the show.
However, OVO is a show that all ages can enjoy.
So if you sat with your parents, much like I did, and watched America’s Got Talent, please don’t forget to take them with you when you go watch OVO. I so wish I had taken my dad. (Old folks love watching people flip around and do amazing things right? Mine does at least. Lol) And if you don’t think throwing people across a room, in mid-air, is amazing, then you’re hard as hell to entertain. Lol
I’m still a bit sadden at the fact that this show wasn’t in English, yet again. But I guess bugs don’t speak English right? Lol It was still surprisingly easy to follow. At one point my daughter was like, oh no, not these two again, they hate each other. Lol (They hadn’t done anything dramatic yet, because the part where they tried to kill each other with fake swords came way after she said this.) But if a 5 year old could understand what was going on, you’ll be okay.
I’m still a bit sadden at the fact that this show wasn’t in English, yet again. But I guess bugs don’t speak English right?
This is my second Cirque du Soleil show, and I must say: when the hell are they going to invite me to learn these damn tricks? Lol Jumping on a trampoline and running on a wall looks incredibly fun. (See photo below.) I mean, I’d completely fail at it, but still fun nonetheless, right? Lol But I absolutely love their production, so I guess just watching is okay too.
The show is produced magically. The actors double as the stage crew, so the transitions are seamless, and even the music is live and done by the characters. Hell, the freaking lights are in sync with the music! It’s like a perfectionist’s dream come true. These photos do this show no justice what so over. Even the press clips I saw didn’t prepare me for how amazing this show would be. You literally have to see how they twist and turn (or jump and flip) to really truly understand just how talented these people are.
Honestly, this show made me smile at least a few dozen times.
And each time I thought to myself “omg I’m really smiling right now, this is so good”. I can’t wait to see another performance! Actually, I think I’m going to head over to their website (www.cirquedusoleil.com) right now and see what else is available in NYC. Don’t forget to do the same, and use the discount code “OVO10” for $10 off! And if you take your kids with you, bring extra money for popcorn and a cute take home gift from the show. Some how my daughter convinced me to buy her this stuffed lady bug.
Now tell me, have you ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show before? Are you interested in seeing their OVO show? Do you even like bugs? (I don’t, but I still had a great time.)
