How One Woman’s Racist Comments Almost Ruined Our Luna Park Fun At Coney Island

When you take your kids to an amusement park, you foresee a ton of things going wrong. Just not this …

Luna Park

I‘d like to start this post off by saying our kids had a wonderful time at Luna Park. They were scared shitless on a few of the bigger rides, but that’s life. Lol *le shrug* However, the fact that my cousin pretty much almost sent herself to jail over this one lady’s comments, was uncalled for and so unnecessary. Yet, this is the world we live in now and people will pretty much say and do whatever they want, when they know they can get away with it. We just have to deal with it, right? Wrong. Hell to the no I don’t!

Shut up and tell us what happened already!

Okay, okay, so here’s what happened. No need to scream! Lol Once upon a time … I mean, wait … that’s not how you start a semi-racist story. (Sorry, I’ve read one too many fairy tales lately.) Whatever. Last Saturday, my cousin asked if we wanted to go to Coney Island with her, and since our daughters are pretty much best friends, I dropped what I was doing and grabbed the opportunity by the … sorry. Lol Anywho, we got there and everything was great! Look at how happy our girls were. (Issa slideshow, wait a few.)

So when my cousin said “hold this” and slipped away quietly, I thought nothing of it. I just grabbed the stroller, and made sure to watch the baby and the girls on the ride.

That’s when it happened.

I looked over my shoulder and saw my cousin’s husband literally pulling her away from the situation, and in front of this lady. Who I later found out was rude and probably deserved to get her ass whooped. So the story? My cousin was standing inline, and a little boy pushed her stroller to get through to the front. Rude.

This is why I don’t talk to Black people.- Racist Lady

However, when she looked back at the lady behind her (who happened to be his mother) she boldly explained, “what the hell are you looking at me for“. Now you and I both know not to use that line in New York City, because

it’s pretty much the easiest way to start a fight around here. But clearly this lady didn’t get the memo. Not to mention, my cousin may or may not be a bit of a hot head. So of course she went off! That’s when this lady opened up her foolish mouth, yet again, and said “this is why I don’t talk to Black people.”

wait what

I mean, was she trying to get her ass beat? What’s even worst is that, no body had the decency to open they damn mouth and tell this lady she was wrong. They literally just watched the entire thing happen and just stood there! My cousin wasn’t overreacting! She had a baby in the damn stroller. A stroller this lady’s son pushed like he didn’t have no damn home training and no common sense.

I guess, when you’re white and you see a big, Black man coming your way, your immediate reaction is to cry.

Then she had the nerve to act like it’s not her fault. Hello ma’am, is this not your child!? Wanna know the good part? My cousin’s husband calmly went over to her after talking my cousin down, and the lady started crying. For no god damn reason. He didn’t threaten her, he didn’t scream at her.

She just started crying. I guess, when you’re white and you see a big, Black man coming your way, your immediate reaction is to cry right? (Similar to like how an animal plays dead so he doesn’t get eaten.) *roll my f*cking eyes* So yeah, that’s our story …

However, our kids still had an amazing time.

Notice, that the title said she almost ruined our day. There was no way in hell we were gonna let her ruin our entire day out. Not when it was pretty much our last day of fun before school starts. Nope! So with that said, here’s a few more photos of our kids enjoying Luna Park. (Which was great by the way. I hope we get to go again this year.)

Have you encountered any racist comments this summer? I’m sorry, let’s ignore the racist shit for the rest of the day. Have you been to an amusement park this summer? How was it? I need the who, what, where, when, why … all the details! (Let’s spread positivity instead of negativity! Although, I do believe in making people fully aware of the bad, so I’m still gonna need you to share this post. K thanks! Lol)

  • Ciara

How ignorant! I’m glad you all still had a good time! #blmgirl

    • Girlll …

But thank you. We couldn’t let that ruin our day. (I also can’t afford to be bailing her outta jail either so yeah. LOL)
